San Vicente Tunnel, San Diego, CA
As part of its Emergency Storage
Project, the San Diego County Water Authority is planning to construct
a 102-inch diameter pipeline to connect San Vicente Reservoir
to the Authority's Second Aqueduct, a straight-line distance of
about 11 miles. The Authority contracted Gregg Sherry as Tunnel
Engineer, with primary tasks involving client-consultant selection,
oversight of bidding and procurement procedures, and preparing
the project scope, schedule, budget, and insurance requirements.

North Weinbach Tunnel, Evansville,
IN
The projects two major aspects are
the construction of 8,145 feet of 96-inch inside diameter gravity
storm sewer pipe and 735 feet of cut-and-cover pipelines. Work
included subsurface investigations, preparation of reports and
contract documents, in addition to consultation services to the
construction manager.

Grand & Bates Relief, St. Louis,
MO
The Grand and Bates Storm Sewer
Relief Tunnel consists of construction of approximately 6,550
linear feet of tunnel, four access shafts and seven smaller diameter
shafts for manholes, to provide storm water drainage relief in
the Grand Glaise Sewer District in the City of St. Louis. Brierley
Associates reviewed the construction specifications and special
provisions, in addition to providing technical specifications
for all tunneling-related activities needed to construct the project.

Las Vegas 170-A Lateral, Las Vegas,
NV
The East Valley Transmission System
project consists of the design and construction of approximately
43,400 lineal feet of 78-inch inside diameter water line (170A
Lateral), and includes 1,440 feet of tunnel construction within
the Thumb Formation and Horse Springs Formations to facilitate
the crossing of the Las Vegas Wash. The Owner, the Las Vegas Valley
Water Authority, contracted Boyle Engineering Corporation as the
prime design firm, and Brierley Associates was subcontracted to
provide tunnel design support, prepare the GBR and Design Data
Handbook, and assist with completion of the contract documents.

Kalaheo Avenue Sewer, Honolulu, HI
The project was being constructed
to increase the capacity of the Kailua wastewater collection system,
and entailed the replacement of 11,850 feet of 24 and 36-inch
inside diameter sewer lines with a new 48-inch glass fiber reinforced
pipe, including series of local collectors to complete the project
without interrupting existing sewer services to the residential
community. Brierley Associates provided construction management
services for the City and County of Honolulu.

US 183, Austin, TX
Designed and supervised the geotechnical
investigations and laboratory testing, evaluation of subsurface
conditions, and geotechnical design recommendations for major
highway bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, microtunnels and
ramp structures and embankments for the Texas Department of Highways
and Public Transportation.

CA
Brierley Associates' staff provided
consulting services to the contractor during construction.

Rose Canyon Sewer Microtunnel, San
Diego, CA
Geologic conditions were evaluated
and potential tunneling methods for application of a 54-inch Iseki
tunnel boring machine. The microtunnel was approximately 200 feet
long and was driven under a major railroad.
