Quarry Access Tunnel, Leesburg, VA
Provided consulting, preliminary design services and cost estimates for a tunnel or tunnels linking two quarries. The tunnel(s) will be 250-foot long and will allow direct access for haul trucks beneath existing park land and bicycle paths to link a newly reopened quarry to existing process facilities.

East Highwall Remediation Design, Morrison, CO
Cooley Gravel Company requested assistance in evaluating conditions and proposing a stabilization measure for a 200-foot high slope in a fractured rock mass on the eastern side of the quarry, which exhibited signs of instability. A study was conducted including field mapping of features in rock outcrops, determination of rock mass strength, and evaluation of the stability of individual benches and of the overall slope, followed by an interim configuration was proposed to flatten the slope and expose the rock for more detailed visual observations.
