Brierley Associates Announces New Management Team

Brierley Associates has a new management Team. AJ McGinn (CEO), Gregg Sherry (CFO), and Steve Kuehr (COO) will serve as our Corporate Officers. In addition, Eric Lindquist has assumed the role as Director of Engineering and will continue to work with Alan Howard to develop Brierley’s presence in California. Dr. Gary Brierley will remain president of Brierley Associates.

Lyman Henn Becomes Brierley

As of January 1, 2012 our Lyman Henn Division is now operating as Brierley Associates. Our Denver and Fort Collins Offices will continue to provide Geotechnical Engineering Design Services throughout the Western United States.

Brierley Associates Lead Sponsor at Colorado School of Mines 2011 Tunneling Short Course

September 2011 saw a record turnout for this year’s “Breakthroughs in Tunneling” Short Course - a three-day short course that covered all aspects of conventional and mechanized tunnel design and construction in hard rock, soft ground and soils. The tunneling course was presented jointly by the Colorado School, Tunnel Business Magazine, Ozdemir Engineering Inc, and Microtunneling, Inc. The course has been running for five years and has attracted participants from all over the world. Brierley Associates has been the leading sponsor of the event since the courses inception.

Denver Business Journal Names Brierley Associates one of the Fastest Growing Companies in Colorado

July 2011, Gary Brierley, President of Brierley Associates, accepted an award for one of the fastest growing private companies in Colorado.

Berti Lindquist Consulting Engineers Joins Brierley Associates

January 2011 Berti-Lindquist Consulting Engineers, located in California's Bay Area, joined our firm expanding our service capabilities to include Geostructural Engineering.

Brierley Associates Opens a New Office in Fort Collins, Colorado

Earlier this year Brierley Associates opened their 12th office in Fort Collins, Colorado. The office is managed by Robin Dornfest and augments the Denver office by providing high level Geotechnical Solutions in Northern Colorado.

Brierley Hosts Reception at this Year’s RETC Conference in San Francisco

In June 2011, Brierley Associates hosted a cocktail reception during the Rapid Excavation Tunneling Conference to celebrate our successful partnerships and our recent acquisition of Berti-Lindquist Consulting Engineers.

Brierley Associates Denver Office a Major Player in the Colorado’s 2011 Water Projects

This year Brierley Associates Denver Office has won three important front range Colorado water projects. Our team is providing multiple contracts for the Sothern Delivery System. Brierley is teamed with Carollo Engineers on the Water Treatment Plant and working directly for Colorado Springs Utilities on tunnel construction management for the FW1B and S2 segments. In addition we were a part of a winning team lead by HDR to provide geotechnical and tunnel design services for Denver’s Metropolitan Wastewater Reclamation District’s 7-mile long South Platte Interceptor and 11-mile long effluent pump back. Brierley Associates Key Team members for the job are: Tracy Lyman, Steve Kuehr, Nate Soule, Rebecca Brock, and Todd Kilduff.

West Coast Region News

Hole Through at the Caldecott 4th Bore Tunnel in California.

On November 29, 2011, Tutor Saliba Corporation “holed through” the top heading drive of the Fourth Bore of the Caldecott Tunnel. Alan Howard and Sean Harvey have been on-site full-time for the past 17 months managing the Brierley team that is serving as the Contractor’s “NATM Engineers” for the project. Brierley Associates has been actively involved in the project since the pre-bid phase and has performed work including bid document review, bid assistance, submittal preparation and full time site engineering, which involves daily tunnel mapping, ground classification and initial support selection. Other BA personnel that have had important roles during different phases of the project include Gary Brierley, Russ Jernigan, Bill Zietlow, David Kwietnewski, A.J. McGinn, Mohamed Gamal, Ray Henn and Nate Soule.

Brierley Associates Wins Major Tunnel Projects in the Big Apple

Brierley Associates has won some significant tunneling projects in New York City over the past few years providing design assistance and construction support services including the Harlem River Tunnel, 2nd Avenue Subway, and the East Side Access Project. This year, Brierley Associates was retained by Yonkers Contracting Corporation to design the initial rock support system for several drill and shoot excavations on the 7-Line Subway, Site J Project. Todd Kilduff, one of Brierley Associates Senior Project Managers, and Doug Isler, our on-site engineer, are both actively involved in the project.

Multiple Pilot Tube Installations in Boston

As part of the Cambridge Park Drive Drainage Improvements project, Brierley Associates teamed SEA/Kleinfelder Consultants and MWH Americas in the design and construction management of five pilot tube guided installation, for electric, gas and telecommunications utilities, ranging in size from 4 to 36 inches. Each of these installations was over 430 feet in length. The project was managed by Brierley Associates’ Nick Strater and Brian Dorwart from our Bedford, New Hampshire office..

Brierley Associates Awarded Major CSO Project in Columbus, Ohio

Brierley Associates was awarded the OARS – Phase II CSO project in Columbus, Ohio during the summer of 2011 for work during both the design and construction phases. The Project is owned by the City of Columbus, Department of Public Utilities.
